Last week, I was explaining the benefits of leveraging RPA to a CFO of a mid sized Indian business group.
And this is what I told him:
The biggest benefit is the fact that mundane tasks of shared services are whisked away by a magical force—enter Robotic Process Automation (RPA), the hero we didn’t know we needed. RPA swoops in like a superhero, automating those mind-numbing, repetitive tasks such as data entry and invoice processing. It’s like having a super-powered assistant who never sleeps, complains, or asks for coffee breaks.
The biggest challenge is getting the well-defined requirements and the right business case
Picture this: Ravi from accounting no longer needs to spend his days wrestling with spreadsheets. Instead, RPA bots handle all the grunt work, allowing Ravi to focus on more exciting ventures—like organizing the office talent show or strategizing new ways to optimize financial reporting. RPA doesn’t just save time; it transforms the work environment into a utopia of productivity and creativity.
However, if there are changes made in the underlying system and not in the BOT – you can sure of big trouble!
But that’s not all! These RPA bots are like the minions from "Despicable Me," tirelessly working behind the scenes, scalable to any workload without demanding a raise or a corner office. They seamlessly integrate into existing systems, causing minimal disruption, unlike Ravi’s karaoke sessions.
RPA is the game-changer that turns shared services into a well-oiled machine, freeing humans from drudgery and allowing them to shine in more impactful roles.
He agreed to try out RPA.
Did I miss any thread around 'pros' of RPA?
